Curracloe beach was rated Ireland’s favourite beach by the Independent.
Many say they believe they’re in the south of France when caught on Curracloe beach on a hot, sunny day. The beautiful sand and water, next to lots of crisp, fresh strawberries to be bought along the way to the beach – it’s the perfect staycation getaway!
The beach stretches for miles and miles, it has 3 main entrances known locally as Ballinsker, White Gap and Culletons Gap. There is a car park available and a boardwalk at Balinskeer which is nearly flat – extremely wheelchair friendly. A nature trail also runs through the dunes at Curracloe – a beautiful sight not to miss! If you’re not a fan of sand and prefer a quicker mode of transport, you can opt to cycle these trails too.
Curracloe beach holds the Blue Flag Beach status, meaning that it is sustainable in its cleanliness, water quality, safety and overall level of environmental protection. The dunes in this beach are currently being actively conserved due to its unique plant and wildlife inhabitants, as part of the conservation policy made by Wexford County Council.
