Summer Festival 2019

Monday 29th July to Sunday 4th August

The sparkling highlight of the sporting calendar here in Galway, the Galway Races Summer Festival is seven days of incredible action. Each July and August Ballybrit Racecourse welcomes some of the finest greatest trainers and jockeys, not to forget the spectators, for a race meets like no other.

From live music, high fashion, delicious food and of course the fun of having a little flutter, there really is something for everyone here. The new Festival Village offers a new dimension to the experience too with a resident DJ, craft beer on tap, as well as a shopping village and of course a big screen to keep in touch with all the action on the course. The atmosphere of the Galway Races is famous with racing fans travelling from all over the world just to experience it. Over 145,000 people attended the Summer Festival last year and it is looking like it will be just as popular this year!

September Racing Festival 2019

Monday 16th to Tuesday 17th September

The September race meeting is always a popular meeting due to its relaxed atmosphere. Racegoers can enjoy the usual great facilities in the enclosure such as good food, bar facilities, on-course bookmakers, the big screen and of course great racing.

October Bank Holiday Festival

Saturday 26th October to Monday 28th October

In 2019, the October Meet falls on the bank holiday weekend, to celebrate Galway Races are hosting a 3 day spectacular of horseracing, entertainment with an electric atmosphere.

Getting To Ballybrit Racecourse

Maldron Hotel Oranmore Galway is located only a 10 minutes’ drive from the Ballybrit Racecourse. However, on race days we recommend allowing extra time to get to the venue.

    Driving directions to the hotel

    From Dublin: Take R109, Chapelizod Bypass/R148 and N4 to M4in South Dublin. Follow M4 and M6 to Galway. Take exit 19 from M6. Follow R381 to your destination. 

    From Shannon Airport: Get on M18 from N19. Follow M18 to R458 in Galway. Take exit 17 from M18. Follow R458 and N67 to your destination.

    Do you have to pay for parking?

    No, parking is free for guests and visitors.

    How far is the hotel from Galway City?

    We are 10.4km from the heart of Galway City.

    If you are driving, we have complimentary parking at the hotel. You can also reach us via a number of methods by public transport.

    We have a taxi company whom we work with to ensure you get picked up asap and also are very reliable. Please just ask at reception and they would be delighted to organise a taxi for you.

    The train also has a great link with Galway City so you can go from Oranmore to Eyre Square and be there between 8-10minutes which is very convenient. Also, it is a very quirky way in which to travel so something unique for little VIPs!

    Buses are also available. The number 404 bus will bring you right from Oranmore town (Oran Town Centre – approximately 750m / 5 minute walk away from the Hotel) straight into Eyre Square.

    Are there bus stops or a train station nearby?

    Yes, there is a bus stop just a 5-minute walk away at the Oran Town Shopping Centre. This serves Galway city (404) and many other destinations such as the Cliffs of Moher (350) as well as the CityLink to Dublin.

    Oranmore Train Station is a 20-minute walk or 5-minute taxi journey away.

    Check-in is from 3 pm. If you are going to arrive before we will do our very best to accommodate an earlier check-in if we have rooms available.

    Check-out is at 12 pm.

    Do you provide babysitting services?

    Yes, we have a number of reliable Garda vetted babysitters on hand. Simply speak with any of our reception team to get one organised.

    Does the hotel provide laundry/dry cleaning?

    Yes, dry cleaning can be sent out by the hotel in the morning and can usually take a full working day and is brought back to the room once cleaned.

    Are assistance/guide dogs permitted?

    Assistance dogs and guide dogs are of course permitted in our hotel.

    What type of family rooms have you available?

    We have a variety of family rooms available which accommodate from 2 adults and 1 child. These rooms have a double and a single bed in each of them. For families of 2 adults and 2 children, there are two bedding options a double bed with two single beds or a double bed, single bed and pull out couch. We also have large family rooms available which comfortably sleep up to two adults and three children these are only available by booking direct at the property.

    Do you have triple rooms for groups at the hotel?

    Yes, we have three single beds in our triple rooms. In total, we have 14 rooms what makes it the perfect location for group getaways.

    What time is breakfast?

    Breakfast is served 7.30am to 10am Monday to Friday. Saturday, Sunday, Bank Holidays & School Holidays breakfast is served from 7.30am to 11am.

    What time is dinner?

    The Q Bar has a wide range of bar food available from 2.30pm to 9 pm Monday to Friday and until 9.30pm on weekends. The Grain & Grill restaurant is open for dinner from 6 pm to 9.30pm on weekends and during holidays.

  • Booking

    How do I amend my booking?

    If you have booked your reservation directly with us over the phone or through our website, amendments can be made over the phone. If you have made your booking online with a third-party company, please contact them directly.

    How can I cancel my booking?

    If you have booked the reservation directly with the hotel over the phone or online, you have up until 2pm the day before your arrival to cancel it with the hotel. If you have made your booking online with a third-party company, please contact them directly as we cannot amend those bookings at the hotel.

  • Facilities

    What are the hours for the swimming pool for children?

    Kids are welcome in the pool from 6 am on weekdays and 8 am on weekends and bank holidays right up to 7 pm. There’s also a kiddie’s pool available for smaller children.

    When does your kid’s club run?

    Our Crafty Kids Club is available during all school holidays and runs nightly between 6 pm to 10 pm. It’s suitable for ages between 4-12 years of age. Different activities are planned nightly to ensure there is a variety.
