    Glasgow Sports Venues

Glasgow has a proud history of hosting major sporting events, everything from the 2014 Commonwealth Games, FIG World Gymnastics Championships, the IPC Swimming World Championships, two historic Davis Cup ties, the World Badminton Championships and co-hosting the inaugural European Athletics Championships.

    Football

Football is the most popular sport in Scotland, and in Glasgow, you can watch a number of teams, including Glasgow Celtic, Glasgow Rangers, Partick Thistle and Glasgow City Ladies FC. Venture behind-the-scenes on one of the many of the stadium tours; peek into the dressing rooms, see the cup rooms, and walk through the players’ tunnel.

The 3 biggest football stadiums, the National Stadium Hampden Park, Ibrox Stadium – home to Glasgow Rangers and Parkhead – home to Celtic FC, are all only 5 miles from the hotel.

    Rugby

While the home of Scotland’s national rugby team is at Murrayfield, Glasgow has its own team, the mighty Glasgow Warriors who represent the City in tournaments such as The Heineken Cup and the Pro 14 League. The Warriors train and play home matches at Scotstoun Stadium which is located just 5 miles from the hotel.

    Golf

Scotland is the home of golf and the country is delighted that Royal Troon will host the Open Championship in 2024, over 100 years since golf’s oldest major was first staged at the Scottish links course. Royal Troon is easily accessible by train, from Glasgow City Centre and you can expect to be there within 45mins.

Glasgow Sport offers five affordable courses; Alexandra, Knightswood, Lethamhill, Linn Park and Ruchill. See all courses and info here. In addition, there are a number of private courses with visitor fees, including the famous Glasgow Golf Club at Killermont, Cambuslang, Cathkin Braes, Haggs Castle, Pollock and Sandyhills.
