The Olympia Theatre first opened its doors in 1879 as “Dan Lowrey’s Star of Erin Music Hall” over the years it has had various names and various owners before finally becoming The Olympia Theatre we know it as today in 1923. Smock Alley Theatre

Possibly Dublin’s most diverse theatre showcasing events of all kinds from opera, puppet shows to themed nights. The theatre originally opened its doors in 1622. The theatre fell on hard times and closed its doors to the public in 1787. Over the years the site was used as a warehouse as well as a church, becoming one of Dublin’s most popular Catholic Churches for ringing the first Catholic bell in Ireland in 300 years. In 2012, 350 years after it was first built the 17th century building re-emerge as the Smock Alley Theatre retuning to the buildings original roots.
