Living Green
Living Green is Maldron Hotels & Partners environmental movement which inspires care for our environment as a “Way of Life” throughout our hotels; both for our people and our guests.
Here at the Maldron Hotel Tallaght, we understand the basic steps of how we can become an eco-friendlier hotel and what choices we are taking. Being “environmentally” simply means having a lifestyle that is better for our environment. We will be taking small steps towards adopting and implementing changes over the coming months to ensure we are playing our role to assist in making the planet a better place. Each time you come and visit us you will see the changes we have put in place.
At Maldron Hotel Tallaght we have our very own in-house Environmental Impact Team. The dedicated team have been really busy behind the scenes, researching and instilling new measures to offer our best environmentally friendly practices throughout the hotel. All of our employees receive ongoing training to ensure all of our new policies and procedures are carried out during their shift.
We are so excited to tell you what we have completed to date.
Herb Garden
We have created our very own in-house herb garden which will be looked after by our food and beverage team. The team are feeding the herbs once weekly with our used Red Bean Roastery coffee beans. Rado our Head Chef and the team are delighted to use the fresh herbs in our delicious cuisine.
Utilities
As you can imagine light, heat and water are a massive consumption in running a hotel. So, we are playing our part by simply making small changes. We have replaced all of our lighting in the hotel with low energy LEDs and we have installed light sensors in our public areas, back of the house and our main guests’ staircase. In our bedrooms, we have turned the TV’s off at the source. To help preserve the water, we have slightly reduced our water flow in our showers, taps and toilets.
Caring for our Environment
Our goal is to become paperless, so we have implemented small changes to our checkout procedures. On departure, your invoice will be emailed directly to yourself as opposed to giving you a printed copy. Internally we recycle paper as much as possible.
Our kitchen team are working tirelessly to ensure we are recycling correctly. We have implemented colour-coded bins in our back of the house and you may see the bins in our guest’s concourse areas of our bedroom floors the next time you stay with us.
Carbon Footprint
Carbon footprint is another key factor and we have looked at various different ways of what changes we can do to play our part. We have recently purchased a glass crusher; this has now reduced carbon footprints to once monthly as opposed to weekly. How we order produce and stock for the hotel is completed once a week and therefore we only receive one delivery which again is another way of reducing the carbon footprint.
