This Accessibility Guide provides practical information about accessibility features at our hotel to support guests with physical, sensory, or other access needs when planning their stay. Sections appear only where relevant to this property.

Maldron Hotel Newlands Cross is committed to ensuring that all visitors and guests have a full and equal opportunity to benefit from the goods, services, privileges, advantages, and accommodations offered by the hotel.

3. Getting Here 

By Car: If you are arriving by car and using a Sat Nav, Google or Apple maps our Eircode is D22 V6Y6. 

For your convenience, Maldron Hotel Newlands Cross offers secure car parking to all guests staying overnight or stopping by for meetings or to grab some food. 

We also have 8 disabled car spaces available that are located close to the main entrance. 

 

By Public Transport: Bus: Stop number 3465 is the closest bus stop to the hotel 13, 69, 51d and 68 buses to Dublin city center come every 15-minutes and stop just 2-minutes from the hotel. Link to Dublin Bus Timetable: https://www.transportforireland.ie/plan-a-journey/timetables/ 

Luas: Maldron Hotel Newlands Cross is within a 20-minute walk from the Red Line LUAS stop which runs to the city centre and takes approximately 20-minutes from the Red Cow stop. Link to LUAS timetable: https://www.luas.ie

 

By Taxi: All major taxi company will bring you to us. Our local taxi company in Clondalkin:

FreeNow is Irelands biggest taxi provider. We use the app at the hotel and find it very user friendly. 

 

Nearest Airport: The nearest airport is Dublin Airport https://www.dublinairport.com/accessibility which is located 22km from our hotel. Nearest Ferry Port: The nearest ferry port is Dublin Port https://www.dublinport.ie/accessibility/ which is located 27km from our hotel.

We want our hotel to be your home away from home and we have a range of accessibility features to support you during your stay which are summarized below.

Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan for disabled people

Personal Evacuation Plans are in place for disabled customers. To discuss your plan in advance please contact us. Details of how to get in touch are provided above. 

Free familiarization visits

Free familiarization visits are available. You are welcome to arrange a visit ahead of booking or visiting to familiarize yourself or others with the venue at no additional cost. Please get in touch using the contact details above to arrange this.

Facilities and Equipment 

Emergency alarm with vibrating pillow pad 

There is a vibrating pillow pad alarm to alert deaf & hard of hearing guests in an emergency available on request. All rooms are fitted with a flashing and sounding smoke detector that will sound and flash when the alarm is raised. 

Wheelchair or scooter loan 

Wheelchairs are available for visitors and can be borrowed free of charge during your visit. They can be booked at the reception desk. 

 

Parking 

Designated accessible parking

Designated accessible parking bays are available within 50 meters of the main entrance. 

Step -free route with firm surface from car park to entrance

There is a step-free route with a firm surface from the parking to the main entrance.

5. Lift Access

There is a lift available to the bedrooms. An evacuation chair is available in case of emergency. 

6. Accessible Public Toilets

Wheelchair-accessible toilet in public areas 

A designated accessible toilet designed for wheelchair users, and others with visible and non -visible accessibility requirements, is available off the reception area. 

This has as a minimum: 

  • Step -free access
  • A maneuvering space of 1500mm x 1500mm
  • An outward opening door with a minimum width of 800mm
  • A transfer space on at least one side of the toilet with a drop -down grab rail on the transfer side. Horizontal grab rail positioned on the wall adjacent to the toilet.
  • An emergency assistance alarm within reach from the floor. 

7. Accessible Bedroom

Ground floor bedrooms with en-suite bathroom 

We have 55 ground floor bedrooms, all with an en-suite bathroom. 

Fridge in bedroom 

There are no fridges in the bedrooms but there is a fridge at reception with 24-hour access for food, drinks and medication. 

Furniture rearranged in bedrooms on request 

To create additional space, furniture can be rearranged on request. 

Wheelchair-accessible bedrooms 

There are 10 wheelchair-accessible bedrooms to accommodate wheelchair users and others with mobility impairments. These have, as a minimum: 

  • Step -free access
  • A minimum door width of 860mm
  • An internal circulation space of 1500mm x 1500mm
  • Emergency assistance alarm 

The bed height is 580mm. 

The space underneath the bed (from floor to bed base) is 200mm. 

8. Accessible Bathrooms/En-Suites

Wheelchair-accessible bathroom with roll -in shower 

There are 8 wheelchair-accessible bathrooms with a level floor, including a roll-in shower. 

These have, as a minimum: 

  • Step -free access
  • A maneuvering space of 1500mm x 1500mm
  • A minimum outward opening door width of 800mm
  • Roll -in shower with no obstacles e.g. enclosures
  • A transfer space on at least one side of the toilet
  • Grab rails by the toilet washbasin, shower, bath 

An emergency assistance alarm with pendent available on request. 

Free-standing shower chair 

A free-standing shower chair is available in all accessible rooms as standard. 

Emergency assistance alarm

An emergency assistance alarm is available in all of our wheelchair-accessible bedrooms and wheelchair-accessible bathrooms. There are also portable emergency assistance alarm pendants available at reception.

Furniture rearranged in the bedroom on request
To create additional space, furniture can be rearranged on request. Please contact our friendly reception team to arrange.

9. Dining & Social Spaces

Wheelchair-accessible food and beverage outlet 

Our wheelchair accessible restaurant, situated on the ground floor, has step free access. 

Table service as standard or on request 

Table service is available as standard in our bar for dinner and on request for breakfast and lunch. 

Dietary requirements catered for 

We offer a selection of food for the following dietary requirements:

  • Gluten free
  • Lactose free 

Please discuss with serving staff who can assist you during your visit, or telephone in advance to discuss your requirements.

Step-free entrance 

There is step-free access at the main entrance via a ramp.

Automatic door at accessible entrance 

An automatic door is available at the main entrance. 

Step-free access to all or most areas 

There is step-free access from the entrance to the following areas: 

  • Reception area
  • Restaurant
  • Bar
  • Meeting rooms
  • Accessible Toilet
  • Lift

Disability awareness or equality training 

Disability awareness or equality training is provided for staff on a regular basis. 

The nearest hospital Emergency Department to the hotel is Tallaght University Hospital

  • If you require oxygen whilst on holiday, seek Health Service Executive (HSE) advice and talk to your oxygen supplier to ask if they can deliver to the hotel. Guests have previously had oxygen successfully delivered

Arriving at the Hotel

When I arrive at Maldron Hotel Newlands Cross, I will see a large hotel building near the road. 

There may be cars, buses, or taxis outside the hotel. Sometimes it can be a little busy or noisy. 

I can enter the hotel through the main doors. The doors may open automatically.

If I feel overwhelmed, I can take my time before going inside.

The Hotel Lobby

Inside the hotel is the lobby.
The lobby may have:

  • People talking
  • Phones ringing
  • Suitcases rolling
  • Music playing quietly

The lights in the lobby are bright so people can see clearly.
There are chairs and sofas where I can sit and relax.
At the reception desk, friendly staff can help guests check in.

 

Checking In

When it is time to check in, I can go to the reception desk. 

A staff member may: 

  • Say hello
  • Ask for my name
  • Give me a room key card 

The key card opens the door to my room. 

If I need help, I can ask the staff. They are there to help. 

 

Going to My Room

To reach my room, I may use: 

  • The lift (elevator) or
  • The stairs 

The corridors are usually quiet and carpeted. 

Sometimes I may hear:

  • People talking
  • Doors opening or closing
  • A cleaning trolley 

These sounds are normal in a hotel. 

 

Inside My Room

My hotel room is a private and calm space. 

Inside the room there may be: 

  • A bed
  • A desk or chair
  • A television
  • A bathroom 

The lights can be turned on or off using switches. 

If I want quiet time, I can rest in the room.

 

The Restaurant

The hotel has a restaurant where guests can eat meals. 

At busy times there may be: 

  • People talking
  • Plates and cutlery sounds
  • Staff moving around 

Food smells may be stronger in this area. 

If it feels too busy, I can: 

  • Take a break
  • Step outside
  • Come back later 

Staff Are Here to Help 

The staff at Maldron Hotel Newlands Cross are friendly and helpful. 

If I need anything, I can:

  • Tell someone if I feel uncomfortable 

It is okay to take breaks, move slowly, and ask for support. 

Leaving the Hotel 

When it is time to leave:
