In our opinion, there’s nothing better than taking the family to the zoo and London Zoo is a great destination for many who visit the capital. With amazing wildlife that ranges from tigers and elephants to otters and tarantulas – not forgetting the penguins of course – there’ll be “ooohs” and “aaahhhs” all day long.

Another great place to spend the day is the world-famous British Museum. Far from being fusty and boring, it’s an absolute goldmine of fascinating objects that will take you on a journey through history and even into space. Great for families of all ages, the British Museum is home to a wide range of child-friendly exhibits, from the mummies of Ancient Egypt to the Sutton Hoo treasure horde, and so much more.

Home of King Charles, is just a short tube journey away from Maldon Hotel Finsbury Park. The royal residence of the British Monarchy, Buckingham Palace is the centre for many events, and you can see parts of the Palace by booking a discovery tour.

See London from an elevated point of view with one of the more modern additions to London’s skyline – the London Eye. A towering structure that is adjacent to the River Thames, the London Eye offers a stunning viewpoint of the capital which is Europe’s tallest cantilevered observation wheel and one of the most popular tourist attractions in the UK.

A collection that is genuinely like no other, Madame Tussauds London features 3 floors filled with over 150 celebrity wax-work lookalikes that will have you second-guessing your eyesight. With a range of experiences and figures from Marvel, Star Wars, music and the Royal Family, even older kids will ditch their phones to give it their full attention.

One of London’s historic centrepieces, the Tower of London is the home of the Crown Jewels for over 700 years including the Imperial State Crown, worn by the Monarch at the end of the Coronation Ceremony and the Sovereign Sceptre. Once you’ve added in the slightly spooky atmosphere, the iconic ravens, and all the amazing stories that have been set here over the years, it’s guaranteed to leave a lasting impression on any member of the family.
