Dublin Zoo

The 30-acre zoo is the perfect place to visit while on a family break in Dublin, with 235 species of wild animals and birds this zoo is a highlight for youngsters and parents alike. Dublin Zoo is located 2.5km and just a short taxi drive from Maldron Hotel Smithfield.

Phoenix Park

From the historic Wellington monument, a memorial to Lord Wellington, the only Irishman to be British Prime Minister, to Aras an Uachtarain, the home of the Irish President, Phoenix Park is perfect to take a stroll and take in the picturesque surroundings. If the weather is good, you can enjoy a bike ride through the beautiful 1752 acre park. Phoenix Park is located 1.5km and just a 25 minutes walk from Maldron Hotel Smithfield.

Guinness Storehouse

Guinness Storehouse is located at St James Gate, a 15 minutes walk from Maldron Hotel Smithfield. It is one of Dublin’s most loved tourist attractions and the best brewery tour in Ireland, marrying food, drink, heritage and history. And no visit is complete without a pint of Guinness in the gravity bar that provides you with stunning views across Dublin.

Opening hours are Sunday to Thursday from 11.30am to 7.00pm (last entry 5.00pm) and Friday to Saturday from 11.30am to 9.30pm (last entry 8.00pm). Pre-booking is strongly recommended for up to 6 visitors.

The Old Jameson Distillery

The Old Jameson Distillery Bow Street is just a 2-minute walk and can be viewed from the hotel. Jameson Distillery is a must-see for any whiskey enthusiasts. The tour follows the path of the different stages in the distilling process and concludes with a whiskey tasting in the Jameson bar.

Temple Bar

Temple Bar is best known as Dublin’s cultural quarter, located within 10-minute walking distance from our hotel. Us Irish are famous for our “Craic” and this is certainly the place to be if you want to experience Dublin nightlife. Temple Bar is home to a range of independent shopping outlets for fashion with a difference. It also hosts a range of museums and cultural centres. The traditional Irish bars, many have been open in the same locations since the 18th century, are known to serve the best pint of Guinness in the world.

Temple bar area, back in medieval times, was a district of St. Andrews Parish, which was a suburb just out of the Dublin City walls. Further down in the 17th century, the land was redeveloped to create gardens for the houses of wealthy families. It is generally thought that the Temple Bar name comes from a Temple family, who had their house built in the area in the early 1600s. There is also belief that Dublin’s Temple Bar was named firstly by imitating the historic Temple precinct in London.

Kilmainham Gaol

Kilmainham Gaol is a fantastic attraction for anyone with an interest in Irish history. Discover the history of the Gaol through a guided tour and learn about prison life in Ireland. The jail plays a central role in the foundation of the modern Irish state as it was here that the leaders of the 1916 rising where executed. The Kilmainham Gaol is located 2.7km from Maldron Hotel Smithfield.

Lighthouse Cinema is only a 1-minute walk from Maldron Hotel Smithfield. Here in Smithfield Square, it shows the very best in international and art-house cinema as well as all the latest blockbusters. At weekends, it shows late-night screenings of classic movies, perfect for a nearby night out.
