Caring for our Environment

At Maldron Hotel Pearse Street, we are committed to taking care of our planet and environment. In doing so, we have gathered our most enthusiastic staff and formed an Environmental Impact Team, which meets monthly and discusses our environmental impact action plan. Our Team is committed to promoting awareness of the environment among its staff and guests.

Travel & Transport

The hotel is located close to some of the big attractions in the city and there is good public transport access with the Dart line and buses all nearby. The hotel supports staff to use public transport if practical. There is also a Dublin Bike station conveniently located on Lime Street, just a few minutes’ walk from the hotel.

Carbon footprint

Our carbon footprint is significantly decreasing year on year, due to our condensing boilers and energy-saving procedures on each floor. Some of our energy-saving procedures include encouraging guests through tent cards to save energy by switching off lights before leaving their room.

All-Ireland Pollinator Plan

Maldron Hotel Pearse Street is happy to announce that we are now a proud supporter of the All-Ireland Pollinator Plan which helps to create an environment where pollinators can survive and thrive. Our aim is to create a small oasis for the bees in the city centre which will help the bees. We will do so by creating pollinator friendly flower beds which will contain a mix of pollinator friendly seeds, sourced locally.

Energy

The hotel site has almost 100% coverage with LEDs and in the last few months, we have installed new condensing boilers, new hot water storage and great insulation on pipework. Most of the hotel’s public area lights are activated by sensors, which minimises energy usage.

Water

Throughout the hotel, we have installed aerators into all our faucets to reduce the amount of water consumption normally dispensed from a standard faucet.

Waste Management

The hotel supports dry mixed recycling (paper, cans, plastics), with food and glass bins also in place. There is a cardboard compactor and baler to reduce uplifts. Cooking oil is also picked up and grease traps are fitted in the kitchen to prevent any oil from entering the main sewage system.

Living Green - The Future

We are continuously working on implementing new eco-friendly procedures and will communicate all our efforts with our future guests. If you would like to know more about our Environmental Movement, please click here.
