Galway Ceannt Station is Galway’s only train station and it is located only a few seconds off Eyre Square in the city centre. The station consists of 2 platforms and is run by Iarnród Éireann or Irish Rail. Trains are available to Dublin from here every 2 hours and the journey will take approximately 2.5 hours. There are also services available to Limerick, Athenry, Westport, Ennis and many more destinations across Ireland. All of these services are very frequent and will get you to your destination in no time.
The station also serves as a bus depot for the national bus service Bus Éireann. This serves as the depot for Galway City. The station contains ticket machines, a booking office, toilet facilities, a coffee shop, vending machines, telephone box and heated waiting rooms.
In future, the Ceannt station is due for redevelopment as part of the Project Ceannt by Galway City Council. After it has been granted planning permission and a development license in 2018, the station will be developed to have much more widened footpaths, well-designed bus bays and revised taxi arrangements.
