Take a Wander around West End and Botanic Gardens (All Summer)
The West End of Glasgow is home to boutique retailers, independent coffee shops and some of the best restaurants in the city. Taking the afternoon to wander around Byres Road and surrounding areas will give you plenty to see and do. At the junction of Byres Road and Great Western Road, take a walk through the Botanic Gardens, especially beautiful during the summer months. There are pop up food vans selling ice creams to keep you cool and you can then enjoy a look round the glasshouses which are free to enter, the most famous being the Kibble Palace.
The West End is easily accessible from Maldron Hotel Glasgow City via the Glasgow Subway. The nearest Subway stop on Buchanan Street is just a 5-minute walk from us.
The Burrell Collection (All Summer)
The Burrell Collection, located just under 20 minutes away from Maldron Hotel Glasgow City, reopened in March and there is a whole new interactive experience waiting to be enjoyed. From new digital displays to reinventing the presentation of their physical artefacts, the Burrell Collection is well worth a visit this Summer. If it stays dry, enjoy its surroundings in Pollok Country Park, taking a woodland walk and having a picnic.

Singin’ In the Rain at King’s Theatre (8th – 13th August)
With rave reviews and 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, Singin’ in the Rain comes to the King’s Theatre in Glasgow from the 8th-13th August. Adam Cooper performs alongside Charlotte Gooch, Jenny Gayner and Strictly Come Dancing’s Kevin Clifton in what is sure to be a memorable return to the glamour of Hollywood during the “roaring 20s”.

Piping Live! (6th – 14th August)
Piping Live! is one of the World’s largest bagpiping events held annually in Glasgow by the National Piping Centre, and is returning to its first full in-person programme since 2019. With nine days of packed entertainment and a variety of performers, enjoy the events from the 6th to the 14th August.

Try some Roller Skating! (All Summer)
RollerStop in Kinning Park, a 15-minute journey from our hotel via the Glasgow Subway, is a purpose-built roller rink which has proven popular with all ages. Whether it’s a favourite hobby of yours, or something you have never tried before, you are sure to have fun and a good laugh having a go! If you feel like you do need someone to help in getting you up to speed, the venue do offer child and adult lessons which includes access to the roller disco afterwards.
