Outdoor Family Adventures

Burren Nature Sanctuary

Burren Nature Sanctuary in Kinvara is the perfect place to take the kids when the sun is shining. There you can learn about the natural history of The Burren and all about its flora, fauna and karst geology. The kids can explore, discover and follow along the winding tracks of the fairy woodlands trails. While there, you may come across some Shetland ponies, alpacas and goats. Tire the kids out with the choice of an indoor play area or outdoor playground.

Rathbraun Farm

Rathbraun Farm is a 35-minute drive from the family-friendly Maldron Hotel Galway, Sandy Road, located in Ardrahan. While there you can tour the farm, barns and farmyard or sign up for some traditional Irish baking with a scone making class. Also, visit the farmhouse with its original thatched roof and stone walls. Activities at the farm include bottle feeding the baby lambs, sheering some sheep and see a sheepdog demonstration. Dinner is available with traditional Irish music playing.

Beach Days

Galway is surrounded by some beautiful beaches, with some being a short walk from the hotel and others being a 20-minute drive, but each as scenic as the next. The closest beach to the hotel is in Salthill, made up of 3 separate beaches. A very popular area of Salthill is the Blackrock diving boards, only the brave ones will make the jump from the top. Just 3 kilometres from Salthill there is a beach with stunning views of Galway Bay, offering a perfect day out to families.
