Day 1
Morning:
Visit one of Cork’s top family attractions, Fota Wildlife Park! Unlike any ordinary zoo, whenever possible the animals roam free, mixing with other species and us humans! Fota Wildlife Park is just a short drive from Maldron Hotel Shandon Cork City and consistently voted one of Ireland’s best visitor attractions. Please note that pre-booking your visit to the park is now essential. While at Fota, make sure to visit Pat the Penguin who is a very important team member of ours who is working from his home there. We adopted Pat the Penguin in February 2021-go say hi to Pat for us!

Afternoon:
Visit the beautiful Fota House & Gardens nearby, free of charge. Why not have some lunch in the popular Bakestone Café?
Evening:
Fitzgerald Park, a ten-minute walk from the hotel, is situated on the bank of the River Lee. Enjoy Cork’s largest playground, manicured gardens and 18 acres to run free, or even bring your bikes and enjoy free open-air concerts throughout the summer. Bring a picnic to enjoy or visit the Natural Foods Café at Fitzgerald Park.
Day 2
Morning:
Take a trip to Cobh and hop on a ferry to Spike Island, formerly the world’s largest prison. Today you can explore the museums and see what prison life looked like, beautiful scenic walks, child-friendly areas, cafés and more. Awarded Gold by the International Travel and Tourism Awards.
Afternoon:
No trip to Cobh is complete without a trip to the Titanic Experience in the town, where the final passengers for the Titanic’s maiden voyage would have boarded.
Evening:
After a busy day, relax at the hotel and enjoy a delicious taste of Cork evening meal in our Grain & Grill Restaurant.
Day 3
Morning:
Wake up to rain? It won’t dampen your trip! Why not start your day with a dip in our Club Vitae pool & kiddies pool, you may even get to relax in our Jacuzzi and sauna! You can also visit Monkey Maze, Cork’s largest indoor activity centre just a short drive from the hotel.
Afternoon:
Take a trip to Air-Tastic Cork for a full afternoon of fun! They offer trampolining, bowling, adventure golf and ninja bounce fun. You can also have lunch in their NY Kitchen.
Evening:
Just a seven-minute walk from the hotel, Cork’s Gate Cinema is the perfect way to spend an evening. Enjoy a pre-show meal in our Bells Bar before heading to enjoy a movie!
Day 4
Morning:
Time to explore the majestic Wild Atlantic Way! Kick-off your day in Clonakilty at the Model Railway Village, hotel guests receive 10% off admission fees!
Afternoon:
Time to hit the beach! Visit Inchydoney Beach, one of Cork’s largest and most beautiful sandy beaches.
Evening:
Stroll through Cork City and choose from one of Cork many family restaurants from Milanos, Luigi Malones, Scoozis and many more!
Day 5
Morning:
Have fun at Rumley’s Farm where you can enjoy a range of activities from petting areas, indoor and outdoor play areas, crazy golf, zip-wire, tractor rides and much more! There is also 10% off entries for hotel guests available. You could also visit Ballyhass with over 20 different outdoor activities you are sure to find something for all the family to enjoy.
Afternoon:
Blarney Castle & Gardens is another famous Cork experience on our doorstep. Don’t forget to kiss the Blarney Stone when you’re there!
Evening:
Visit Blackrock Castle for a delicious evening meal in the castle café. Where better to finish off your trip to Cork than in the beautiful castle setting and miles of scenic walks just outside.
